went jamming with jye, nich and alan on one sunny sunday afternoon. finally.
i finally rediscovered the joys of jamming after being absent from the music scene for nearly half a year (the last gig i had was like, in june or july). there's just something magical about being in a small studio with the opposite end of the wall being covered with amps, effect pedals and various other music making devices. for those of you who have never been to MJC's newly opened jamming studio, i completely recommend it. i shall decribe the layout of the room:
-centre of the room: standing space + mic. stand + 2 elec. guitars & 1 bass.
-wall opposite of door: covered with amps/effects.
-left of door: drum set, complete with nice crash and ride cymbals. i have yet to see a public studio with small crash (10") in the centre of the other cymbals. sure wish they had those tho. XD
-rest of the room: jumping space.
there you have it! currently the best open jamming studio in town! rm20 an hour! guaranteed satisfaction. ^^
we just entered it, picked up our instruments and away we went. the usual songs, along with a new one (Muse - Plug In Baby) which, unfortunately, isn't really completed yet. shall work on it after the rest of the guys finish their SPM. then, we did something we decided to experiment a bit. it kinda happened spontaneously; i got tired of the bass so went to the mic. instead then jye took up the bass. i subsequently told nich to "play something, anything", and he played a riff from Our Lady Peace's "Life" only this time with power chords and it sounded kinda unique, like a j-rock song with a happy tune to it. so we just followed along with alan on the drums, jye on the bass and me singing a melody that sounded vaguely like a Nice Stupid Playground song. it felt really good, and it didn't sound too bad either. just sang whatever that came to my mind at the moment, and all the shit from the past & present just seemed to fly out the window. it just felt that damn good.
we then continued playing a metal piece with me banging on the drums and alan going mad on the mic. 'till the guy comes knockin' telling us that this would be our last song, 1 hour is up. so we just jammed a metal piece and a happy tune together. weeeeeeeee.
once we finished that session everything seemed so bright and sunny and happy and gay. just sitting in the car on the way back with my leg hanging out of the windows felt good. and every single ounce of worry and tension seemed to be sucked up into the big blue endless sky...
p.s: the bass sounds really good with that big ass 100 ohm amp backing it! like, play the open E string and the whole room vibrates! wonderful. =)
