Keeping the dream alive...

motors and cars are speeding on the highway and honking, drivers screaming on top of their lungs, passengers waving the malaysian flag against the air of independence, and yes it's officially Independence Day or the commemoration of Independence day to be exact. So technically I'm obligated to blog today in Bahasa Malaysia, not that everyone's doing it and I'm inviting myself on the band wagon, it's just the least I could do in conjunction of the Merdeka celebration, here goes.

Saya berbangga menjadi rakyat Malaysia.

I remembered this short line from a local television advertisement which somehow goes like this.. "Although we all have different colours, but we are drawn on a single canvas..."and I couldn't agree more.

Happy 48th Indepenence Day Malaysia.

Launching my linkers

made these linkers to my blog this morning thansk to Photoshop. Alrite, spare me the insults and comments, because I know what u guys are gonna say, believe me I do. I know lah my blog not as popular and cool like others punya mah, well at least it's a start for some "exposure". Since I don't have a server of my own, I'll be using Photobucket.com as one. ;P

Like it? You guys can put these "linkers" into your blog by copying the html code in the text box at the right side of this page just below my chatterbox and paste the code in ur blog code template wherever u want in your blog code. Colour preferences available!! LoL.. Ranging from Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple.

To select coloured linkers, follow the 10 easy steps below:
1. Proceed to the text box on the right side of my blog located under my long chatterbox.

2. Click the code in the text box and it'll be highlighted automatically, then copy it by using the command "Ctrl + C" on ur keyboard.

3. Now, login into your blog template layout where all the html codings are. If you're using blogger.com, go to ur settings page for template. For any other platforms, go to the page where your blog html coding layout is situated.

4. Comes the tricky part, you'll need to bust your brains to carefully read the codes and know where exactly you want to place the linkers, normally I'd advice opening another browser with you blog for reference.

5. When the location is determined, direct your mouse cursor to that area and click, then simply just use the command "Ctrl + V" and paste it on the spot. You're almost done!
6. For the ones who are comfortable or familiar with html editing, step 2 till step 5 can be ignored.

7. Now, colour selections are the original grey, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. If you like the original grey colour, this is where you stop.

8. Say, your favourite colour is green(high five!), then in the html code which u initially pasted, locate the two words "original" and "insignificant_original.jpg".

9. Then substitute the word "original" with the word "green", so this'll give you "insignificant_green.jpg". This tells the browser that the image source is from the filename "insignificant_green.jpg.

10. *Drum Rolls* You're done!. As for other colours, you can substitute the word with respecful colour names from step 7.

thursday

Wasted the whole wednesday afternoon at the movies watching Herbie and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with friends instead of studying for the upcoming mock exams on September. I'll save my movie reviews for never. Well, maybe I seriously did need that little time out.

Anyway, I realise I have priority issues, next month's my mock examination and I've yet prepared myself for the pre-STPM preparation examination. Constantly reminding myself that the mocks are equally important as the actual examination so I could have a head start in sending out my applications to local institutions just for luck and consideration. Applaude myself for being able to place my "worldly affairs" aside and on hold, rather than letting them have a drill on my brain every single day waiting to be dealt with.

I better get some shut eye now. Have a whole lot coming on for me tomorrow, topics to cover for physics and math exercises to practise. Nite.

Google Talk

Refering to the recent ping on petalingstreet about google's messenger, Google Talk, I decided to give it a try, so I downloaded and installed it and I liked it. It comes with of course Google's trademark for searching through friend's list and now why would you wanna do that? Unless you're Oprah Winferey with a fan-base mounting kilometers high. Google Talk's just pure simplicity. Though I've never actually had my invitation approved to further test it with other google talk users, but it's good enough for me. Looking forward to try them tonite and anticipating more features adding on.

Here's a little snippet of my google talk.. to download, click here.

I read an article on Sunday's Star newspaper entitled "No time to waste on holidays" and how so true it is. According to the article, the calming effects of holidays wears off within 24 hours for most people and indeed it does. Though in my case, not entirely congruent to the article, still I can't help the feeling of being tardy, non-organized and useless, classic.

Ugh, studied Physics Volume 1 today (at least I did something constructive) roughly mimicking the Q&As from reference books which did wonders for me during the previous pre-holiday tests. But yet again, the temptations from the television screen seems too hard to resist not to mention the remote control.

Also, due to the week of liberation from schedule-constrained schooling days, I had the liberty to watch the series House on AXN shortly and I give a 10 out of 5, eye-squintting and raised eyebrows aside 'cos it ain't wrong, only just that it was more than my expectations. The series is almost like a fusion of CSI and ER topping off with the main factor, humour and sheer SARCASM which could trigger a contagious outbreak of laughter and stomach cramps for an immediate ward admittance. For those who no longer will be able to choose the career as a doctor(e.g. me), it'll make u cringe to see what fun u'll be missing in action and as for the hopefuls, even a janitor post in the hospital will get you on cloud nine. Fancy acronyms and the long namesecular-callingrobulirical nomeclatures never heard of that could actually murder you may seem condescending and incomprehensible for viewers in particular, personally however I don't think it matters at all.

I've realised that regarding the current haze issue, Malaysians shouldn't have their fingers pointed at Indonesia rooting the main cause of the propagation. I personally think that Malaysia has a bigger portion to fit into the cause of the haze problem. Our farming activities leading to burning of crops for fertilization or land clearing can be widely noticed around Kuching, earlier this week on my way to school, I noticed this piece of land where respectful farmers normally plant corns, were proudly burning the land to clear the old crops after harvest to prepare for another cycle of harvest and they were three spots being burned where black carbon fumes were emitting from each spot of the flames right into the air we breathe. Why can't the Malaysian government implement it's policy on agricultural development to assist them infrastructure wise? At least give them options or do SOMETHING at least to minimize the effect. On top of that, another phenomena contributing to the haze is the "Ghost Festival" celebration, memorial, or wadever u call it, clearly there is no need for elaboration. Burnings. The chinese traditional belief mentions that if we were to burn "gifts" ranging from paper shirts, money and etc, the spirits from the after-life would receive it, well in the "festive season", paper golds and offerings are burnt for the spirits who haunts the world during this period where the gates of hell are opened for the them to roam the mortal world for means of peace and blessings, in other words they meant, "fuck off evil slpirits and leave us alone". Are they not aware!? Our country is in a middle of a health crisis, authorities are doing their best to keep the API level below 300 and people with their beliefs does the complete opposite by releasing more and MORE hyrocarbons and other harmful air pollutants into the air only to give peace and comfort to their state of mind? What sick way of life is that and exactly how sicker can it get!? Even members of my family do it. I am ashamed.

Later that night , got an impromptu invite to head to Kuching Festival and coincidentally bumped into a fight between the notorious ah bengs around midnight. There were shoutings, swearings, cussings, a showdown of egoistic humility, and an example of stupidity to it's ultimite limit. Apparently, the fight was triggered by typical ah beng guys laying eyes on another ah beng's girlfriend named Stella or that's what I heard. What is so great having a pouch beside your chest worn like a beauty pageant contestant? dyed or bleached unsymmetrical japanese-like hair styles? What's the point? WHAT'S THE POINT? the answer is: THERE IS NO POINT!! Eventually, officials were rushing to the scene and chasing all around the area and I saw this guy rushing out of the crowd with a bleeding mouth, exactly kinda like the ones in dramas where u get punched on the face with blood on the side of ur lips. One guy had the balls to go against the officials and was threaten with a pole-like stick weapon.

Personally, I think that Malaysians needs to reevaluate their way of life and be critical in their actions, that goes for me as well.

Saturday, August 20

Holiday starts today spanning for only a single week of freedom, or should I say a week of slavery to books. Counting down for at least 80 days till STPM, and I'm feeling as though time is a rigid and solid medium pressing against me to the ground every single day. I'm so screwed that I can't even make time for blogging, let alone for my studies. I'm pretty much habis. Maths 2 pre-holiday test for Differential Equation was average bur I doubt it'll get any better.

Started using contact lenses since last tuesday and this time instead of using the regular transparent ones, I choose coloured ones and brown for a more discreet expression since I'm bounded by the regulations of the school to act otherwise. Woo-hoo! No more "hey, what's that word on the blackboard?" or "Who's that girl? Can't see clearly!" from me ever again.

Sunday, August 14

Had my share of the night with alexis, kevin, and teck poh at kuching festival just now. By the time we reached there, not given a single chance at getting decent food, it started to rain. Nevertheless, I managed to grab a few sticks of my all time favourite "taiwan sausages" for the wait under the shelter, thanks to alexis for his camera phone, now you all too can enjoy the wonders of "taiwan sausages". Get'em at the Kuching Festival now since you already know how the real genuine tasty one looks like.

then I saw this guy doing a promotional gig for the company in one of the booths. Clearly, doing the same thing over and over again for every single night has really got into his mental state.. Notice the cucumber stuck on his forehead ?

Now think, where could you ever find a place for all the local communities in Kuching involved in the food making industry united at one location for every single year? We're spending money on selective food that isn't common. Some say it's a waste of time and money and I concretely disagree with that, as cool as you're trying to be, being cocky and stubborn while missing all the fun isn't actually cool, just foolish.

Saturday, August 13

it's been a while since I last blogged, all the stress and tension building up is just unbearable. All I want to do now is study, study and STUDY. If only I was to get involved in a car accident(touch wood), get admitted to the hospital, syringed with "salt water" with 3 meals a day, air conditioned and no distractions, along with my chemistry, physics, and math books keeping me company for the next 14 hours per day up till the big day of STPM, even a nuclear explosion won't keep me from my books, Never. Nonetheless, if I were to be completely indulged and concentrated on my studies, I wouldn't be failing every exams in school. Talk is cheap and I admit it. Guess I'd better put into more effort on next week's physic's test again.

Lately, my emotions and feelings are really affecting the way I think and talk. Never expected to fall back for the same person all over again after all these years, surprising? I know. As ridiculous as I'm going to sound, but I'm pretty much paralysed from my own control of emotions. I really really wanna back off from her as much as I did like before but saying "no" seems so hard. We've had our arguements over and over again but over the past few years, we've become good friends. I just want to let go of this piece of feeling, lock it and melt the key into deformity and accept the fact that we're only friends. I just HAD to express this out in the open because I can't stand it, nothing really matters anymore other than getting it all out of my system for some ventilation. There, I finally said it.

For the next 90 days I will be officially sequestered in "nerd-landia" delving into the malaysian education syllabus, squeezing every droplet of brain-goo I own to obtain a grade resembling satifaction to the minimum at least.

After today's motivation-instilling speech from our dear principal, with a deeply regretful decision I have done, my isolation from the worldly temptation has been and already commenced. Yes, it is. Pleasure and entertainment can wait after the exams where by now, TIME is critical and precious. I have three books for Chemistry where the teachers has yet even start on the last book, and two volumes for Physics and another two for Maths to revise. Pengajian AM (General Paper) to work on my understanding and another resitting for MUET paper.

Posts will be lesser, in the contrary, study-stress will be buiding up. So, I better get started now...
