a weekend in johor

As we all know, last saturday was the voting day and my university had all the classes on friday canceled so all that are eligible to vote could have a head start home to cast their votes for the general election. Since only the thing that stands between me and that voting booth in Kuching is the South China Sea, me and a few coursemates took a trip down south to Johor for the weekend instead.

We spent the night in my coursemate Wen Sheng's place. Johor was actually quite fun, I loved it a lot. Reminds me of my own hometown, just in a larger scale with wider roads. Frankly, I've been wanting to add Johor into my list ever since I started studying in Malacca but never had actually had the chance. I thought of passing by Johor some time in the future to Senai airport to fly to Kuching instead of going through LCCT KL like I used to. However, since it was a last minute decision to Johor to stay for the weekend, I couldn't help it!

We visited city square, tebrau city's jusco (2nd largest), ate the most delicious stone-grilled fish, the best duck rice, tasty ikan bakar behind city square along Jalan Ah Fook, best coffee in nusajaya's old town, and went to 花菓山 (pronounced 'hua guo san') because of this guy, and met up with a few good friends in UTM. I've compiled a montage of the few photos I took during the course of the trip. Enjoy...

I know Wen Sheng will really, REALLY hate me saying this, but whether he likes it or not, I still want to thank him for bringing us around and letting us spent those few nights at his place. Can't wait to bring him around Kuching when he gets here in May.

my list gets longer now with Johor in it :)
