Balls

Staying in Melaka seems to bring back some home-made flavours back to my toungue. My grandma used to make Hainam chicken rice like twice a month on weekends while I was in Kuching and I remembered the taste of the Hainam rice alone could fill up my belly and leave me bloated for the whole day. It was SOooOo nice. One thing though, the Hainam chicken rice balls sold here in Melaka seem to be more commercialized, exploiting more on profit rather than the taste.

This one I da pau for only RM2.30 at the hawker stall.

I love balls...

We had this next one in a restaurant selling ONLY Hainam chicken rice balls. Notice how many chicken rice balls they have? They even had the BALLS to charge us RM3.50 for this (non-inclusive of drinks).

I hate their balls...

Owh by the way, I'm not Hainam, I'm Foochow.

But yes, I do speak Hainam.

erm.. actually I meant my grandma she just cooks regular rice with the hainam ingredients.

So we didn't actually eat hainam chicken rice balls, just the rice. Which is so damn nice...

yea, something like sushi, but cooked. It's something like those old china movies where a wanderer eats rice balls made at home for lunch and dinner.
