help me cum

or should I say "help cum me", "cum help me" or just "me cum help"? Isn't it amazing how sentence structuring can alter the meaning of a message in so many ways? Anyway, back to this entry.

Normally those who are already familiar with short text messaging (SMS), would probably be familiar with the word "cum" as a simpler way to represent "come" (I'm guessing Alexis would know better if he's reading this) by just thumbling "C", "U" and "M" as opposed to thumbing "C", "O" with a pause then "M" again then "E" which is pronounced the same only without the pause and the extra letter.

In this sense, SMS jargons are forgivable and there's undoubtedly nothing unorthodox about it. However, if road signs were to be labeled or banners printed with these jargons... the world would end, seriously. Still, our brain would be able to associate these jargons (or mistakes) with words or meanings that would bring some sense into it.

BUT putting it like THIS, is simply unforgivable.

I was laughing so hard once I saw this vacancy sign walking back from lunch with Kennedy, snapped a shot and soon realized that the store actually meant "Vacancy - Welder cum Helper". I guess when the store owner was hiring welders, he then decided that he needed more welders/helpers to "cum" instead.

Let's just hope that the public won't just focus on a specific part of the sign like how I did. It really made my day.

Did it made yours?

hey yee lin.. indeed there's nothing wrong with "Welder-cum-Helper", it's how they presented the sign that ticked my humour-buds, as though at the last minute, they just decided they needed a "cum helper" by sticking another note on the sign.. imagine what sense would our brain make of it at first glance haha... :P

anyway, thanks for stopping by aight? :P
